After having abdominal surgery, you will likely be staying in the hospital for a few nights. I appreciate being able to sleep in the comfort of my own pajamas rather than the gowns provided by the hospital. Be sure to size up since you will still look about 6 months pregnant during the days after giving birth, plus you will be a bit swollen from all the fluid they pump into you before the surgery. Some of my favorites were soft night gowns because I knew they wouldn't hurt my incision.

Pro tip - choose dark colored pajamas.

Nursing bras & Nursing pads

I'd recommend disposable ones while in the hospital, but once I was home, a friend gifted me these reusable nursing pads, which are way more comfortable.

Going home outfit

Treat yourself to a cute matching lounge set & remember you may want one with buttons for breastfeeding.

Nursing Pillow- A nursing pillow is necessary for feeding your baby comfortably while protecting your incision. I love everything momcozy, but tons of other brands are out there, too!

pro tip - you can use for tummy time later.

Shoes & socks

Hospital floors are cold, slippery, and, let’s face it, gross when you think about how many people go in and out of there! I’m bringing these shoes for walking around and the bathroom (I use them in the shower too to prevent slipping as post-delivery you will be unsteady!) I’m also bringing socks in case it is cold.

pro tip: from a NICU mama, bringing socks and easy-to-slip-on shoes was necessary.

Reusable Water Bottle- the hospital will provide one, but it's nice to have your own on hand if you're thirsty and a nurse can't get to you right away. Of course, everyone loves a Stanley, and if you need an excuse to splurge on another one, mama, you deserve it!! I love this one!! But I also love an Owala because of it's double sip feature & it will keep your water ice cold for hours.

Paperwork- Make sure you have all the necessary documents and paperwork for your stay at the hospital, along with a folder to keep everything organized.

Extras - I'm so glad I had with me!
